Forced convection
FORCED CONVECTION – REGULATION and ACCESSORIES
Regulation of the heating or cooling medium flow forms a central role in the correct control of convector heating output. Correct selection of regulation elements guarantees a comfortable ambient temperature and contributes to heating cost minimalization. Fans and thermoelectric actuators are powered by 24 V DC and the fan speed is operated by 0-10V control voltage.
KORAFLEX FVO, FVE, FVP, F2V and F4V
KORAFELX FVA
KORALINE LVO
KORAWALL WV
Outside temperature varies continuously during the heating period. Regulation elements are installed to the heating system to meet your desired ambient temperature and to eliminate the negative impact of outside temperature changes. Thanks to well-designed regulations the KORAFLEX, KORALINE, KORAWALL model lines achieve optimal heating efficiency and considerable financial savings.

RAB 21-DC or RDG 260T thermostat function description
Trench heater output is controlled by fan speed and the flow of heating/cooling medium through the exchanger. The control voltage is 24 V. The RAB 21 DC or RDG 260T Siemens thermostats control the heating medium valve with a thermoelectric actuator and in addition control fan speed with a control voltage of 0–10V DC. Fan speed may be controlled automatically by the thermostat, or manually in three speed settings. The speed rating is set at a control signal size of 7 V. Fans start rotating when the temperature of the heating medium exceeds 37 °C. For cooling trench heaters, it is recommended to use a second temperature sensor, actuated when the temperature drops below 15 °C. Temperature sensors are available as optional accessories.
Function description with BMS (Building Management System)
The BMS central control system may be used to control trench heaters. One BMS control output directly controls the opening/closing of valves and the other 0–10 V DC output controls fan speed. The rated heat output of trench heaters is achieved at 7 V DC. Valves and fans are supplied with 24 V DC.
Using the KNX system, trench heaters may be controlled with the RDG 260KN thermostat. The thermostat communicates with the KNX system, which transmits and receives data for the trench heater.
Information on individual model lines
KORAFLEX Pool-V (FVP)
For KORAFLEX Pool-V humid environment trench heaters, the standard control system description applies. The difference lies in placing the FCR-BOX in a pattress box with a higher degree of protection. The fan is equipped with stainless steel casing and its electronics are protected against splashing water. For this model, we recommend using a temperature sensor that monitors the temperature in the pool area. The sensor is designed for RDG 260T thermostats. The trench heater is not designed to be permanently flooded with pool water. Please familiarise yourself thoroughly with the warranty conditions and conditions of use.
KORAFLEX Energy (FVE)
It is powered by 230V AC mains voltage. The switched-mode power supply is situated inside the convector and converts mains voltage to 24 V DC. Fan speed is controlled by 0–10 V DC controlled voltage either from the BMS or the thermostat. Electrical installation design must be carried out by a suitably qualified person and must comply with relevant regulations. Installation and maintenance of the electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified electrical technician. Prior to commissioning, an inspection and testing of the electrical installation must be carried out in accordance with ČSN 33 1500. KORAFLEX Energy FVE convectors are powered with 230V alternating current mains electricity. Therefore the electric branch must be equipped with a residual current device with a tripping current of 30 mA. These trench heaters are to be used solely in dry environments, and only for heating.
The KORAFLEX Amper FVA electric convector is controlled by a control voltage of 0–10 V DC via a thermostat or a master BMS system. The control voltage determines the heater performance and the fan speed. The power supply of the heater is 230 V AC and is delivered via an IP 65 electrical box. The fans have a safe 24 V DC power supply. In the event of a fan failure, the electronics will shut off the power to the heating rod. In the event of an electronic failure, safety is ensured by a safety shut-off sensor. An additional control sensor makes sure that the temperature of the grille does not exceed the ambient temperature by more than 45 K. The grille is fixed to the convector with screws for safety reasons.
KORAWALL Optimal-V (WVO) and Pool-V (WVP)
Regulation elements are identical for all forced-convection products (OC systems). We recommend equipping the convector with the LM regulation valve with a higher flow rate.
Wall-mounted convectors KORAWALL Direct WVD (24V DC)
Do not forget about the power source nearby installation. Connection to the mains is via a 24 V DC socket adapter. KORAWALL WVD we recommend equipping with the LM regulation valve with a higher flow rate. The convector is equipped with an autonomous control with an integrated keypad, allowing fans to be controlled directly on the unit.
Wall-mounted convectors KORAWALL Energy WVE (230V AC)
Do not forget about the power source nearby installation. Connection to the mains is via a ready-to-use terminal block, securely incorporated inside the heater. KORAWALL WVE we recommend equipping with the LM regulation valve with a higher flow rate. The convector is equipped with an autonomous control with an integrated keypad, allowing fans to be controlled directly on the unit.
